چکیده

We show that the infinite imaginary anomalous dimensions of certain heavy quark-antiquark currents in the HQET arise due to an inappropriate commutation of two limits, namely coinciding velocities and infinite cutoff. This commutation is not apparent when dimensional regularization is used, but it can be made manifest in a cutoff regularization. We argue that operators containing heavy quark and antiquark fields with the same velocity in the HQET must not be matched to perturbative QCD but to Coulomb-type bound state contributions. We show how to do so at one loop level.

One loop anomalies and their dependence on antifields for general gauge theories are investigated within a Pauli-Villars regularization scheme. For on-shell theories i.e., with open algebras or on-shell reducible theories, the antifield dependence is cohomologically non trivial. The associated Wess-Zumino term depends also on antifields. In the classical basis the antifield independent part of ...

Reducible off-shell anomalous gauge theories are studied in the framework of an extended Field-Antifield formalism by introducing new variables associated with the anomalous gauge degrees of freedom. The Wess-Zumino term for these theories is constructed and new gauge invariances appear. The quantum effects due to the extra variables are considered. December 1994 UB-ECM-PF 94/25

Compact lattice U(1) and Seiberg-Witten duality: a quantitative comparison

It was conjectured some time ago that an effective description of the Coulombconfinement transition in compact U(1) lattice gauge field theory could be described by scalar QED obtained by soft breaking of the N = 2 Seiberg-Witten model down to N = 0 in the strong coupling region where monopoles are light. In two previous works this idea was presented at a qualitative level. In this work we anal...

The WZ Term of the Spinning String and its On-shell Structure

The Wess-Zumino term of the spinning string is constructed in terms of their anomalies using an extended field-antifield formalism. A new feature appears from a fact that the non-anomalous transformations do not form a sub-group. The algebra of the extended variables closes only using the equations of motion derived from the WZ term. December 1995 UB-ECM-PF 95/22 TOHO-FP-9553

Ub-ecm-pf 97/17 Field Theoretical Approach to Quantum Hall Ferromagnets

We present a quantum field theoretical analysis of a ν = 1 quantum Hall system when the effective Landé g factor is small. We clearly demonstrate that the ground state of the system is ferromagnetic. We note that it is the short range component of the Coulomb interaction which is instrumental in aligning the spins. We then go on to derive the effective lagrangian for the lowest lying spin excit...
